Sandra Cisneros

Sandra Cisneros

I found this book, ‘Loose Woman‘, by Sandra Cisneros when I was searching for something good to read in the Strand the other night and I think she is way fresh! I read, ‘Woman Hollering Creek: And Other Stories‘ by her, but that was like 1000 years ago and didn’t realize it till I wrote this entry. Life…

Love Poem For The Non-Believer

Because I miss

you   I run my hand

along the flat of my thigh

curve of the hip

mango of the ass   Imagine

it your hand across

the thrum of ribs

arpeggio of the breasts

collarbones you adore

that I don’t

My neck is thin

You could cup

it with one hand

Yank the life from me

if you wanted

I’ve cut my hair

You can’t tug

my hair anymore

A jet of black

through the fingers now

Your hands cool

along the jaw

skin of the eyelids

nape of the neck

soft as a mouth

And when we open like apple

split each other in half and

have seen the heart

of the heart

of the heart   that part

you don’t   I don’t

show anyone   the part

we want to reel

back as soon as it

is suddenly unreeled like silk

flag or the prayer call

of a Mohammed   we won’t

have a word for this except

perhaps   religion

This is the 91st of those photographs. Also, there is a Flickr collection called “The Awesome Leftovers” where I put the daily shots (if any) that didn’t make the cut.

It has taken me awhile to get to this set. I know it is for a few different reasons. One, I don’t want to think about this Championship being Suzy Hotrod’s last game with Queens of Pain. I mean really? That’s crazy.  I am also sad the Ladies of Pain lost as they have always been my favorite team and well, I wanted them to win. Sorry Bronx, I love you, just in a different way. :] Also, strange enough my camera was acting up, so I did not get that many great shots that night. Then it died soon after half-time and the spare re-chargeable batteries needed charging. It was a disaster. Honestly, I did not mind that so much. I could focus more on the game, instead of getting a shot.

Here are the rest of the pictures from that night, Day 91 – Queens of Pain VS. Bronx Gridlock Championship.

It was a great Championship game. I can’t say it enough, I love roller derby. Now that I have some time till I get to watch some more derby maybe I’ll go grab some new skates (my old Pac Mans are near death), and skate around town. I need something to fill the void.

Till next season ladies.

NYC nightlife legend & comedian MURRAY HILL and his friends filmed an important message for the gay kids all over the world live from the Miss LEZ Pageant at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, New York. Many queer icons were in the house to share the love, like Michael Musto, World Famous *BOB*, JD Samson, Silas Howard, Bitch, Sarah Greenwood, and many others. All walks of life were present, loud and proud. Overheard in the audience, “It doesn’t get better, it gets f*%king awesome.” Video shot and edited by Jackson Memenza. Get to know http://mistershowbiz.com

I was there and it was a very good time. It’s cool that Murray Hill and Jacks Memenza did this video.

Don’t let other people’s ignorance bring you down. We’re all beautiful.

This shot is of a woman at the Queers United In Response March in Brooklyn on Sunday. Sunday was a crazy day, there was the March, running around with Denise taking some shots for Be Nice, then hanging out with everyone (Renee, Chavisa, Sabrina and Al) at the Miss Lez Pageant 2010, then the Metropolitan and last but not least the break of dawn feta cheese omelet. I love this town. Check out the rest of the pictures, Day 85 – A Long Day Into Night.

They’re pretty hot.

All About Me

I start many things with good intentions, many, many things. This time I intend to stay focused. This time I will not leave behind what I started. This time it is larger and more important than my obsession with Martha Stewart, all design shows, and Teresa Witherspoon. :P This time it is about the greater good...this time I am serious.
